MELBOURNE GENERAL CEMETERY CHAPEL

This Chapel is found in the grounds of the Melbourne General Cemetery, about which I have blogged about before, here. It is a Victorian bluestone building, along the lines of which many other coeval churches in Melbourne were built.

This post is part of the Psalm Sunday meme,
and also part of the Spiritual Sunday meme.

And here is a lovely Felix Mendelssohn setting of Psalm 2 op.78 "Warum toben die Heiden" with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir directed by Daniel Reuss.

  1. I came to visit from Spiritual Sunday and enjoyed looking at your various photos. I especially enjoyed your autumn photos as fall is my favorite season. What a treat to see your fall photos during my spring. Have a blessed and beautiful week!javascript:void(0)

  2. Such a beautiful church surrounded by what must be an historic cemetery. Was the church built upon that concrete foundation or was the concrete surrounding the church added later. I found that to be very interesting.

  4. Hi Kathy, the concrete block was added later as part of the renovation and beautification process that regularly occurs in this vast, sprawling, historic cemetery.
