This is a Red Chokeberry (Aronia arbutifolia), a deciduous shrub known for its bright red berries.    Berries: These bright red, berry-like fruits often remain on the shrub through the winter, providing food for wildlife. In the Spring, the shrub produces white or pinkish-white flowers before the berries develop. The foliage typically turns a brilliant red colour in the Autumn. We've received quite a lot of Spring rains the past couple of days in Melbourne. Although it was much needed, we also had some unfortunate flooding in some suburbs, high winds with trees uprooted and interruption to the electricity supply in some neighbourhoods.
