RUBY CINERARIA

Cineraria refers to any of several hybrid ornamental plants (Senecio × hybridus) in the composite family (Asteraceae), derived from species native to the Canary Islands and widely grown as indoor or bedding plants for their showy, variously coloured radiate flower heads and attractive silvery foliage. Derived from the Latin cinerria, genus name, from feminine of Latin cinerrius, of ashes (from the ash-coloured down on its leaves).

I had seen these ruby red cinerarias a short time ago in our local nursery and was keen to grow them in our garden, an experiment which proved to be successful!
