"The Nest"  is a sculpture in the Darebin Parklands, which was made by artists David Bell and Gary Tippett from recycled materials. It is a $75,000 public art sculpture installed in October 2012 in Darebin Parklands and has divided residents, with some saying the egg-shaped work looks out of place in bushland. The artwork itself has been praised by residents, but some have  criticised the location chosen.

A DAY'S SKYWATCHING

Four moments taken in a day, with each one documenting the sky at the time. Cold and fine in the morning, with clouds massing in the afternoon, while rain came in the evening and into the night.

REFLECTIONS

In the upper right is a coot, and to the left of that, two darebins (Australian swallows). The reflection is of the sun on a very overcast day, hence the silvery colour. The red-yellow hue in the water is due to the dusty red colour of the clouds caused by a very dusty atmosphere.

This post is part of the Weekend Reflections meme,
and also part of the Saturday Critters meme.

DOG WALKERS

The Darebin Parklands in suburban Melbourne is a conservation area, a green nature reserve and an important leisure area. Many dog walkers find it a suitable place to take their animals for a walk, keeping them on a leash in areas where free-ranging dogs may chase the wildlife. There are also a couple of large grassy areas where the dogs can be let off their leashes to exercise.

This post is part of the Saturday Critters meme.

NATURE

It's Spring and the perfect time of the year to find time to stop and seek out a serene spot where one can find a little wilderness in order to admire the wonders of nature awaking from her Winter sleep. Here in the Darebin Parklands in suburban Melbourne, Australia, the Darebin Creek winds it way through 40 hectares of urban bushland, between the suburbs of Ivanhoe and Alphington.

This post is part of the Wordless Wednesday meme,
and also part of the ABC Wednesday meme,
and also part of the Nature Notes meme.
