I believe I know that as pyrocanthus, and the thorns are quite memorable if you get into them! But the birds love the berries.

On our walk today we saw lots of berries on ground plants. I commented that we rarely see birds eating them. I guess birds know which berries are good to eat and which ones to avoid. - Margy
