Last week, Lydia in Sydney posted some photos of the lockdown in her city and they were full of sadness, but also of a little hope. As we all struggle to come to terms with the effects of COVID, it is important to stay connected and give each other strength and courage to go on till we beat this pandemic!

WATTLE

The genus Acacia belongs to the family Mimosaceae. There are some 1350 species of Acacia found throughout the world and close to 1000 of these are to be found in Australia. Commonly known as Wattle, Acacia is the largest genus of vascular plants in Australia. Different varieties will flower at different times, but usually we see them flowering in wintertime.

FUMITORY

Fumaria officinalis, the common fumitory, drug fumitory or earth smoke, is a herbaceous annual flowering plant in the poppy family Papaveraceae. It is the most common species of the genus Fumaria in Western and Central Europe. In Australia, it is a common introduced weed. Its medical use is controversial and excessive intake has toxic effects.
